Policy Statement:
CalATSA values the contributions of its members and seeks to enhance the work of its committees by allowing qualified volunteers to participate as committee members. Volunteers may attend BOD meetings in a non-voting capacity and will support the efforts of committees in accordance with the organization’s mission.

Eligibility:

  1. Volunteers must be members in good standing of both the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA) and CalATSA.

  2. Volunteers must demonstrate a commitment to CalATSA’s mission and actively work on the specific committee’s objectives

Nomination and Approval Process:

  1. Nomination:

    • Any board member may nominate potential volunteers. Each nomination should be made verbally or in writing and should include an outline of the proposed duties for the volunteer.

  2. Application Requirements:

    • The nominated individual must submit:

      • A resume OR brief statement of experience and interest explaining why they wish to serve on the committee.

  3. Review and Approval:

    • The President and Vice President of the Board will review the nomination and application materials.

    • The final decision to approve the volunteer will be made jointly by the President and Vice President.

    • Any decision not to approve will be brought to the BOD for discussion

    • Newly added and newly departing volunteers/committee members will be announced to the BOD in the next BOD meeting after the action, and memorialized in the minutes

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Volunteer Duties:

    • Perform tasks as outlined by the Committee Chair and approved by the committee.

    • Attend committee meetings regularly and actively participate in discussions.

    • Complete relevant tasks timely outside of meetings as assigned by the Committee.

    • May, but not required, to participate in BOD meetings as non-voting attendees.

  2. Confidentiality and Conduct:

    • Volunteers must adhere to all organizational confidentiality policies.

    • Volunteers are expected to uphold the standards and values of both ATSA and CalATSA.

Term and Evaluation:

  • Volunteer terms will be reviewed annually by the committee chair(s), President, and Vice President, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and continued interest.

  • Each committee chairperson must maintain a current, up-to-date committee member list that is made available to the BOD in its official records

  • The President and Vice President may terminate a volunteer's participation at their discretion and will notify the BOD if appropriate, including when the volunteer no longer meets eligibility criteria.
